Day 1: Ashgabat
After arriving at the Ashgabat international airport your tour guide will meet you. Then you will start the city tour which includes visits of the parks and squares of the capital, Ertogrul Ghazi mosque, the archeological site “Nisa” The ruins have mud brick remains of fortifications and palaces, temples, ceremony hall, treasury building. It covers the remains of Parthian civilization, what combined the traditional art and culture with Hellenistic and Roman elements. Then you will get acquainted with the Turkmenbashy spiritual mosque in Kipchak. After arriving in Ashgabat, you will be transferred to the hotel.
Day 2: Ashgabat – Kow Ata – Nokhur – Ashgabat
On the second day of your “Lost in Turkmenistan” tour we will visit Kow-Ata underground lake. The Turkmen name Kow-Ata means Father of caves. At first glance, this underground area appears like a magnificent auditorium: the overall length of the cave is 230 m, its height reaches 20 m, and its width is at some points 57 m. The bottom of the cave is covered with lumps of dissolved limestone or stalagmites, and its warm and gushing water is clear and emerald colored. The water has a constant temperature of 33-37°C. You can swim in a lake. Then visiting of village which itself fills a small depression valley in the mountains of the Kopet Dag Range, and the houses have been built by local boulders, cemented with mud. The Nohkur people who populate this remote mountain village are quite different to other Turkmen tribes. After exploring these places, we will drive to Ashgabat. At the end of the tour you will be transferred to the hotel.
Day 3: Ashgabat – Mary –Merv – Mary
Today after having breakfast we will drive to Mary. On the route will visit Seyitjemaleddin Mosque, Nedir sha fortress and Abiverd historical place. After arriving we will have lunch. Then drive to Merv, to visit Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum, Mohammed bin Said Mausoleum, medieval castles – “Kesk” – Gyz Kala, Small Kala- fortresses dating back to 6-7 centuries and others.
At the end of the tour you will be transferred to the hotel.
Day 4: Mary – Turkmenabad – Koytendag
Today we are going to visit is Repetek biospheric reserve. We will look round museum and territory of the reserve. Then drive to Turkmenabat. After lunch drive to Koytendag. On the route we will visit Kaynar Baba lake. Overnight will be here.
Day 5: Koytendag
In the morning we will start our tour with driving along the Koytendag mountain gorge. Koytendag is the home of the highest mountains in Turkmenistan, the deepest lake, the longest caves and the most majestic natural waterfalls in the country. Koytendag Nature Reserve is the huge geological research center, the pride of which is the rocky plateau with hundreds of dinosaur footprints. Explore “Forty Girls” Gorge, “Plateau of Dinosaurs”. Visit Umbar Dere waterfall. Overnight.
Day 6: Koytendag – Turkmenabad – Ashgabat
Early after breakfast we will drive back to Turkmenabad. On the way we will visit Astana Baba mausoleum. Then drive to Turkmenabad airport fly to Ashgabat. Night will be in a hotel.
Day 7: Ashgabat – Dashoguz – Kunya Urgench – Darvaza
In the early morning we will have a hotel check out and drive to airport for a local flight to Dashoguz at 00:00 am. You will have a tour which includes visits of the architectural monuments of Kone-Urgench, capital of Khorezm in X- XII centuries. Historical Parkincludes the mausoleums of Najm al-Din al-Kubra KhanumTyurabek, Il-Arslan, Tekesh Ibn Hadzhibey, the highest minaret in Central Asia KutlykTimur. After lunch, we will drive to Darvaza – Gas Crater, which is a huge flaming crater, located 270 km to the north of Ashgabat. Overnight will be at the tents.
Day 8: Darvaza – Ashgabat
After having breakfast, we will transfer to Ashgabat. On the way we will stop in one of the villages Bahardok or Erbentto to observe the rural life of Turkmen people. Ashgabat is the capital and largest city of Turkmenistan even though it is relatively young city. In 2013 the Guinness Book of Records named Ashgabat “white marbled city” here you can see the biggest number of structures in the world made out of the white marble. You can visit Ertogrul Gazy Mosque, beautiful monument of Akhalteke horses, park of “Ylham” (Inspiration), “Altyn Asyr” trade market and “Gulustan” market.
Day 9: Flight
Today in the morning driver will take you to the airport. This will be the last day of your “Lost in Turkmenistan” tour in fascinating Turkmenistan.
